Here’s a general idea of what our work process can be like, from start to finish.
Everyone’s access needs are taken into consideration every step of the way, so the process is accessible for everyone involved.
The page covers our process from a project-based perspective, but I also do work on retainer! Please contact me if you’re interested in an ongoing retainer style engagement.
Project workflow
These are the general steps for a project. We’ll create a customized plan together.
1. Initial connection
After you contact Leanna about your project, we’ll connect to discuss the details of your project.
This is when we get to know each other. We’ll go through the project outline, budget, and timelines.
Some accessible options for this step are:
Video or virtual audio meetings.
Leanna uses Google Meet but is open to other platforms.
We can build in breaks or schedule a couple shorter sessions.
We can set up screen recordings and meeting transcripts.
Email or messaging.
Collaborative Google Docs.
2. Statement of work
After our chat, Leanna will prepare the statement of work, unless you have one ready.
This document will include the project brief, deliverable schedule, and pay rate so you know what to expect.
3. Booking services
Once you decide you’d like to move forward and the project details have been confirmed, you’ll review the statement of work and approve with a signature. Leanna uses Adobe Sign, but please let her know if you prefer another way.
At this time, you’ll also pay a deposit to reserve your project slot in Leanna’s schedule. There’s information on payment methods and financial accessibility options at the bottom of this page.
4. Project start
Once the project start date gets close,
We’ll confirm that everything is on track to start on time.
You’ll send me the latest draft of your document by the agreed date.
Your project will start on the agreed date, and you can send any questions you have as they come up.
5. Project end and final payment
Once the project is completed, you’ll receive an invoice for final payment.
Once the invoice has been paid, you’ll receive the deliverables.
You’re welcome to ask follow up questions once you review the deliverables.
Payment methods and financial accessibility
Leanna is very aware of financial barriers and will work with you to create an agreement that meets both of our needs.
Shame-free, no-interest payment plans are available. It’s great for my business to have some people pay more slowly over time. Creative options are also available.
Current payment methods are electronic funds transfers (for example, e-transfers), PayPal, or cheque. Leanna is in Canada. GST/HST rates apply for Canadian projects.
